1. Introduction

SkillMart operates an online marketplace that connects clients who need local services with skilled workers in the Philippines. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal information responsibly.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, how long we keep it, and what choices and rights you have. It applies when you:

  • Visit our website (https://skillmart.ph);
  • Use the SkillMart mobile application;
  • Create or use an account;
  • Post jobs, apply for work, message other users, make payments, or use features such as live job tracking and identity verification.

By using SkillMart, you acknowledge that you have read this Privacy Policy. Where required by law, we will ask for your consent before collecting or using certain information (for example, optional location sharing or uploading identity documents).

This Policy is issued in compliance with the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173) and its implementing rules, and should be read together with our Terms and Conditions.

If we appoint a Data Protection Officer (DPO) and/or register with the National Privacy Commission (NPC), we will update the controller details with those details.

2. Who This Policy Covers

This Policy applies to:

  • Clients — users who post jobs and hire workers;
  • Workers — users who browse jobs, apply, and perform services;
  • Visitors — anyone who browses our public website without signing in;
  • Administrators — authorized SkillMart staff who review verifications, certificates, and support requests.

We do not knowingly offer the platform to children below fifteen (15) years of age, and account registration is intended for users who are at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into agreements.

3. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly, information generated through your use of the platform, and limited information from third-party sign-in providers.

3.1 Account and Profile Information

When you register or complete your profile, we may collect:

  • Full name;
  • Email address;
  • Mobile phone number;
  • Password (stored securely through our authentication provider);
  • Account role (client, worker, or both);
  • Profile photo (avatar);
  • Optional profile location;
  • Account preferences and settings.

If you sign in with Google or Facebook, we receive information those providers share with us according to your account settings.

3.2 Job, Marketplace, and Communication Data

We may collect and store:

  • Job posts and related details;
  • Job applications and hiring decisions;
  • Assignment records;
  • In-app messages;
  • Reviews and ratings;
  • Notifications and alerts.

3.3 Payments and Billing

When you pay through the platform, we may collect:

  • Payment amount, method, and transaction status;
  • Assignment and payment references;
  • Billing information submitted through PayMongo;
  • Optional proof-of-payment images.

Card and e-wallet credentials are processed by PayMongo. We do not store full card numbers on our servers.

3.4 Location and Tracking

Depending on permissions and feature use, we may collect:

  • Job locations;
  • Real-time worker location during active assignments;
  • Map and navigation-related data.

We use mapping services such as Mapbox and related APIs to provide maps, address suggestions, and directions.

You may disable location permissions in your device settings, although some features may no longer function properly.

3.5 Identity Verification and Credentials

Workers may optionally submit:

  • Government-issued ID verification;
  • TESDA certificates;
  • Other certifications or supporting documents.

Verification status may be displayed on user profiles as trust indicators.

3.6 Support and Contact Information

If you contact us, we may collect:

  • Your name;
  • Email address;
  • Phone number;
  • Subject and message content.

3.7 Technical and Security Information

We automatically collect technical data such as:

  • Device type and operating system;
  • IP address;
  • Session and authentication information;
  • Error and crash reports.

We may also use cookies and similar technologies for security and essential website functions.

Private messages and payment details are not publicly visible.

Our infrastructure is primarily hosted on AWS in the Asia Pacific (Singapore) region. Some third-party providers may process data outside the Philippines. We take reasonable measures to ensure personal information remains protected.
